First Time Sunshine

The kittens experienced their first sunshine yesterday, and they went crazy! They ran straight into the beams and started rolling around on the carpet. It was so sweet :)

Sleepy Minds Think Alike

For those of you who don’t know this about me, I’m an extremely hard sleeper. But I get in this weird in-between place where I can think, but I’m not awake. And when I am startled, I really startle.

So a few nights ago, in the middle of the night, I felt something on my head. It was like something was massaging my scalp and playing with my hair. It felt kind of good… :) I drifted in and out of the in-between place a few times wondering what it was. All of a sudden I realized it was a kitten! It was batting my hair around!

Meanwhile…

Austin was all warm and cuddled up, sleeping like a baby. One of the kittens laid on his shoulder and snuggled in. He started petting it in his half asleep state. He gave it a little “love pet” because “it was so soft!”

After a few minutes…

I startled awake, startling Austin awake, and both of us were thinking the same thing.

How the heck did the kittens get up here?!?

I stared at Austin for a good twenty seconds in my groggy state of mind- truly trying to grasp what happened. There was no kitten in our bed. NOT ONE. As we stared at each other dazed and confused, we slowly started piecing it together.

I had rolled over in my sleep and my head landed on his shoulder. He thought that it was a kitten because of how soft it was, so he pet it. I thought the petting was a kitten playing with my head. In the morning we weren’t sure if it really had happened, but we both remembered it so it must have!

Apparently my hair is incredibly soft- as soft as a kitten to be exact. And apparently, we both have kittens on our minds so much so that we would BOTH think it was the same thing! We laughed so hard in the morning when we were in our right minds.

What a funny little thing… that'll definitely go in the memories book!

Wait…. What?!

This past weekend was a little crazy for us. Let me start with the not-so-crazy. I worked all day Saturday and got home just in time to take the kitties over to Petco and get their vaccinations. When we got there, we were looking at their packages and talking to the vet- $170 for the kitten package PER KITTEN! My goodness! Then to top it off, the vet was exceptionally rude and arrogant, talking down to us as though we were 3yr olds! I was extremely frustrated. We decided to take their flyer and talk it over together, because let’s be honest… they are inside only and don’t need half of the vaccinations that veterinarians are trying to push these days!

We went home and I started looking up animal shelters and veterinarian prices. I found an animal hospital that has a “Special Price Thursday” where the vaccinations and exams are at a discounted price! Perfect. We took them in on Sunday after church to start their shots and just get an initial checkup to make sure they’re healthy. We haven’t had any concerns or issues, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

When the vet came in she was SO nice! She was friendly, caring, and such a sweet woman. I was so relieved after or run-in with the evil Petco Vet! She was giving Tallie her little checkup- feeling her tummy, joints, looking at her teeth- making sure everything worked properly. She flipped her over and said, “So this is the boy, right?”

Wait.

WHAT?

Austin and I looked at each other and back at the vet. There was about a twenty second pause of awkward silence.

“Well… No.. They’re both girls…?”

“Oh, no honey. This is a boy.”

Austin and I just stared at her. Austin was holding Mila and held her out. “Well what about this one?”

“That’s a little boy too. You’ve got two boys! Let me just change that on the charts here…”

Haha What in the world?! We have two boy kittens. It’s been so weird trying to remember to call them “he” and “the little BOYS” instead!

No more pretty little collars with flowers and bows… and now they have to get used to their new names! No more Mila and Tallie.

Meet Milo and Theo (how cute is it that I can say “THEODORE MOORE!” When I’m mad! Haha!).

SURPRISE!!

Austin is the sweetest husband! Just look at these beautiful little creatures :)

This morning they have taken two naps after wearing themselves out :) The first time they put themselves to sleep in their little bed, and the second time they came and sat on my feet while I was doing dishes. They would put a paw on my leg so Id look down and them and they would just stare up at me and make a little tiny cry! So I finally gave in and sat down so they could come curl up on my lap :)

Thank you Austin! They’re so precious and I feel so lucky! :)
